About Gerhard Baum

Gerhard Baum studied aeronautical engineering and information technology at the University of Stuttgart. After his career at Mercedes-Benz and IBM, he joined the Schaeffler Group as Chief Digital Officer in 2015. Here he has since been responsible for worldwide digital transformation, digital business models, and optimizations. Gerhard Baum has been at the forefront of digital revolution in the German automotive industry ever since the early 1980s. Being an active driver of this transformation, he now leads Schaeffler towards a resilient and modern company offering smart products as well as data driven services.
